ReplyDeleteI'm still searching on social media a few times a week (usually with the phrases "gamestop closing", "gamestop store closing", and "gamestop closing sale"), but there really hasn't been anything yet other than the two stores listed.
DeleteI'm not sure when, but the GameStop located at 6554 W US-34, Plano IL 60545 has closed. Google Maps doesn't list it, but if you go to one of the surrounding businesses you can see a picture from June 2019 advertising Super Mario Maker 2. It might've been during the last 2 rounds of closings as they have a negative Yelp review from Black Friday 🤣
ReplyDeleteIt's no longer on the store locator; the last time they appear to have taken stores off of it was in April, so it most likely closed during the March 2021 round. I added it to that list; thanks!

DeleteThe two remaining Paramus stores most likely still have leases that aren't up (mall Gamestops used to have 10 or even 15 year leases, although I doubt many go that long anymore).
DeleteI live in central NJ and can report that the GameStop in Marlboro closed this past week (the last week of July 2021). It's the one listed on the GameStop website as "67 US HIGHWAY 9. MORGANVILLE, NJ 07751."
DeleteThis information comes from a Vitamin Shoppe employee right next to the former GameStop storefront. I was at Vitamin Shoppe today and hoped to make a stop at GameStop while I was there. So sad! It was a convenient location for me.
Do you know the chances of the Brunswick Square Mall location closing? I'll bookmark this blog and hope to see an answer soon. Just curious if you have any info, thanks!
all the store closing listings come from people reporting them closed on social media and such, so they wouldn’t have any info a store closing unless someone posts it. As an example it wasn’t known that the Morganville location closed or was closing at all until you posted about it here, I imagine the Brunswick mall location won’t be closing anytime soon though because they closed midstate down the road earlier this year
DeletePart of May closures, Brooklyn Center, MN location closed early May. It was looted multiple times, so not surprising.

Antioch, IL and Wheeling, IL have both closed within the last few weeks.
ReplyDeleteThanks: I added Antioch, but Wheeling (1566 E Lake Cook Rd) was already on my January/ February 2021 list. Did it actually close more recently? I've seen it happen before where a store was announced for closure but ended up remaining open a bit longer.
DeleteAntioch and Wheeling both closed back in February. I know cause I was the one who was able to get a few things from the Wheeling location, and they were empty on Feb 21 if I remember correctly.

ReplyDeleteThey'll more likely be longer closings with clearance sales, so I'm expecting them to be announced around early November; all my info comes from checking social media and comments on here, so I'll be monitoring and listing them as they come in.

DeleteThe Town Center Mall at Cobb location initially had a sign on their door saying they were just closed for repairs. I feel betrayed.

Madison, Indiana's location has stated they were moving to a different location. However, that has yet to come, and their current store has closed.

GameStop seems to be disappearing in NYC pretty rapidly.
That's the first store in NYC that closed since January of last year (2021) after none have closed until this recent one on 116th st.
